The Police in Rukiga District have registered a hit and run accident that killed a 25 year old man identified as Taremwa Hillary, a mechanic and a Kabare cell inButare Ward in Muhanga Town Council.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the accident and explained that the deceased was coming from Kakatunda Trading Center heading to his home and when he reached Kabare as he was walking in the middle of the road aknown vehicle knocked him and died on spot in the middle of the road.
Maate told journalists that the scene of the crash was visited by DTO Rukiga District Traffic Officer Rubango John Bosco assisted by Sgt Birihanyomyo George and the body was taken to Mparo Health Center IV Mortuary for postmortem examination
Maate explained that nquiries are at hand and efforts to get the vehicle and the runaway driver identified are being made to ensure that he is charged in courts of law accordingly.
