The Vice President for Western Uganda of the People’s Front for Freedom and Member of Parliament for Kabale Municipality, Hon Nicholas Kamara has addressed leaders of the Ankole People’s Front for Freedom during the official launch of the party in the Ankole subregion.

The event was held in Catholic Social Centre Mbarara City and hosted several prominent guests, including Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago, Hon Ssemujju Nganda, and Maj Gen Gregory Mugisha Muntu, President of the Alliance for National Transformation among others.

While speaking at the official launch of the Ankole People’s Front for Freedom at the Catholic Social Centre in Mbarara City, Gen Muntu said it was a positive step that both parties had agreed to work together to field joint candidates—from LC1 to the presidential level.

He emphasized that this alliance aims to restore hope among Ugandans and demonstrate their readiness to bring change through a united political front.

The event also featured the swearing-in of the Peoples Front for Freedom leadership for Ankole Districts and attracted a wide range of national leaders from the Cabinet, National Assembly, and the Council of Eminent Persons.

Meanwhile the People’s Front for freedom Party youth members in Rukungiri district have today launched a “Grant Dr Besigye Bail” protest campaign aiming at pushing the government and judiciary to grant Dr Kizza Besigye bail.

 The Grant Dr Besigye Bail protest campaign was launched at the PPF party offices located along Rubabo Road in Rukungiri town, Rukungiri Municipality and after the launch,  members moved around the streets of Rukungiri town carrying poster cards containing messages asking the government to Grant Dr Besigye and other political prisoners bail.

The Angry PFF party members were also dressed in Black T- Shirts with an image of Dr Besigye in the face with the same message.

Addressing press after the walk, Ms the people’s Front for freedom mobilizer Ms Ingrid Kamateneti Turinawe said they have waited for what is enough and this is the right time for the government to release Dr Besigye and other political prisoners.

“This is a nationwide protest campaign and it has been launched here in Rukungiri district. We are saying there is no more demand, it’s a must, Dr Besigye must be free“.  Ms Kamateneti.

Ms Kamateneti said tgat on 6th August 2025 Dr Besigye and all other political prisoners must be freed because everyone has confirmed tgat he committed no crime but what is hearting is that he has been in jail for almost 9 months for no crime so we are saying “enough is enough”.

Mr Kamsiime Boaz, The Youth Council and a Member of people’s Front for Freedom Kamusiime Boas said they were carrying out a demand campaign for free Dr Kizza Besigye and the government should grant him Bail because its almost 9 months in prison since he was abducted in Kenya and we are here as PFF youth from Rukungiri district demanding his release

“ Am calling upon my fellow youth who would wish to see freedom in Uganda to kindly join us and we roll out this campaign across the country because we badly want our son Dr Besigye out of prison’’ Kamsiime said.

Dr Kizza Besigye and Hajji Obeid Lutale  were abducted in Nairobi Kenya on 16th November 2024 where they had gone to attend a book launch for Martha Karua since then the 4 time presidential candidatehas been in jail on charges of treason.
