NEWS– The Kagadi district NRM elections officer says the district held a peaceful and successful village structures elections despite some isolated violent incidents that marred the exercise in some areas.
John Chrysostom Mikisa made the revelation this afternoon during an exclusive interview with Paradigm FM at the NRM offices in Kagadi town council, Kagadi district.
He says there was higher voter turnout in all the 906 villages in the district and at least 893 villages held successful elections on May 6th, 2025, the first day of voting.
Mikisa however says violence reported on the voting day disrupted the exercise in 17 villages and this forced the NRM electoral commission to suspend the exercise to the next day which was May 7th, 2025.
He says the suspension of the election was necessary to prevent further disorder.
Mikisa asserts that the re-election was later on conducted successfully amidst tight secuirity manned by police and UPDF officers, thereby thanking the security teams for keeping law and order during the exercise.

Mikisa states that the election exercise at the parish level will be held on Monday 12th May, 2025 next week and the Sub-County elections on May 16th, whereas the elections for the district NRM structures will take place on 23rd,May,2025.
Mikisa is rallying all NRM party members and the elected village leaders to embrace the next level of elections, re affirming commitment to transparent and orderly polls across the district.

In another development, a total of 120 students of Kagadi skilling center have earned certificates after completing a computer training course.
Officiating at the Institute’s maiden graduation ceremony held in Muhorro town council, the director for education and training at URDT Robert Katabazi urged the graduates to utilize the acquired skills in transforming their lives and communities.
He urged parents to support the young graduates in job creation and other investments tailored to diversify their income streams.

On her part, the director of the Kagadi skilling center, Prossy Nahwera, also the aspiring Kagadi district woman Member of Parliament says all graduates were supported with bursaries to acquire basic computer skills.
She thanked the graduates for the endurance and commitment to complete their courses and urges them to form groups and foster development in their communities.
