The territorial police in Rubanda registered a suicide incident of a 22 year old Mugarura Victor, a 1st year student of Kabale University and resident of Hamurara cell Nyamiyaga ward Bubare town council Rubanda district, who allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope.
According to Kigezi region Police spokesman ASP Elly Maate, this was on Thursday July 24th 2025 at an unknown time at the above place of residence.
Maate adds that, the deceased had allegedly picked her mother’s phone and disappeared with it and they started looking for him until in the evening hours.
It’s further alleged that when the sister tried to call on it, she heard it ringing in the house where Victor sleeps and upon opening the door, that’s when she saw his body hanging on top of his bed.
The police were notified, the scene of crime was responded to, examined and documented. Statements of relevant witnesses recorded and the exhibit of a rope recovered.
Short notices (suicide notes) suspected to have been written by the deceased before his death recovered beside the body.
Maate told the press that “once people have issues of concern, they should always utilize the services of local leaders and relevant offices rather than resorting to termination of their lives which doesn’t solve anything”.
