The Police in Rubanda District are hunting for suspects who allegedly stoned and damaged the vehicle of Minister of State for Finance in Charge of General Duties Hon Henry Musasizi which took place at Hakashanje Playground, Nyakahanga Cell in Bushura Parish, Hamuhambo Town Council in Rubanda district.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the incident and said that it took place when the Minister was leaving the venue after campaigning and a number of hooligans from the crowd threw stones on his convoy and caused damage to his vehicle’s glasses.
It’s further alleged that, this started in the morning hours, when some people destroyed his posters which were being put at the same venue.
The case of malicious damage was registered, inquiries initiated and efforts to get the nine suspects identified to have got involved, are being made for their apprehension and prosecution.
Maate however did not specify if it was exactly the vehicle the Minister was in that was targeted.
Maate has since appealed to people to desist from Acts of lawlessness during this political season for others to freely express their civic rights, or else they risk the long arm of the law.
