MITOOMA – The Mitooma district roads committee on Thursday, December 28th 2023 recommended the district council to set a by law protecting roads following the increased sand mining and brick making on roads reserves which has caused massive destruction of these roads .
The meeting that was led by the district roads committee chairperson Rtd Capt Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda held at the district headquarters saw members express concern of roads being destroyed along Mitooma – Kashenshero , Mitooma – Kabira and Kabira – Rukungiri where by the ditches they leave on road sides end up destroying the entire road structure.
It’s for this reason that the roads committee chairperson Captain Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda noted that there must be an immediate action taken to protect these roads.
Speaking after the same meeting, Ephraim Bamugyendera the works committee chairperson noted that there is a need for all people to work hand in hand to protect these roads so as to have better service delivery.
Meanwhile Agasha Juliet Bashisha the Mitooma district woman Member of Parliament noted that there is a need for emphasis on quality of any road they are to work on as district and ensuring proper drainage so as to make them last for so long before distortion.
