NEWS- The Police in Mitooma District have two women are in custody for allegedly murdering a 48 year old teacher.

The deceased according to the Greater Bushenyi Regiona Police Spokesman SSP Marcial Tumusiime is Birungi Banabus 48, a teacher at Mugongo Primary School in Bugongo parish, Bitereko Sub County in Mitooma district.

Tumusiime told the press that his body was found hanging in the middle of a latrine that is 10 meters away from his house.

Basing on the condition of the body and the surrounding, Police suspected drugs or chemicals that might have been administered to him and taken to where he was recovered hanging.

The suspects are Owensi Jackline 43 years wife to the deceased and Kobukwensi Dinah 40 years sister in-law to the deceased a resident of Kanyabwanga also in Mitooma district.

It’s alleged that on 5th June 2024 the deceased left home to school for teaching but did not reach and its further alleged that the deceased and his wife had some domestic issues.

On Thursday 6th June 2024 in the morning, Owensi (suspect) called residents that Birungi (deceased) had committed suicide but on arrival and looking at the body the locals disputed suicide. On realizing that the community could turn against her, Owensi reported the matter to police.

Police immediately swung into action by visiting the scene, recording statements from some witnesses, conducting postmortem (autopsy), getting some body samples for toxicological analysis and arresting the suspects. Exhibits of a rope and clothes were recovered from the scene.
