KAMPALA- Several leaders of Forum for Democratic Change- Katonga faction have been arrested while marching to the Kenyan Embassy. They were demanding answers from the Kenyan government regarding the abduction and deportation of 36 of its members.
These individuals were arrested in Kisumu, Kenya, before being handed over to their Ugandan counterparts under the External Security Organization-ESO, who in turn handed them to CID that charged them with terrorism.
Proscovia Salaamu Musumba, the national vice chairperson of FDC Katonga, expressed concerns, stating, “the grounds under which the 36 FDC members were kidnapped and deported to Uganda leave many questions unanswered” Musumba said.
She questioned the legality of the actions taken by both Ugandan and Kenyan authorities, emphasising that the FDC members were in Kenya legally. However, their march to the Kenyan Explanation with a petition, where intercepted by the heavily deployed police near the Golf-Course.
“We shall be presenting a protest note if no substantial feedback is received. This matter will be brought to the East African Court of Justice and the United Nations, as well as to the Kenyan parliament.” Musumba said.
In the process, a group of ten leaders including Ssemujju Nganda, the Kira Municipality, Kampala Deputy Lord-Mayor Doreen Nyanjura, Egrid Turinawe, among others were arrested, detained at Golf-Course Police, before being transferred to CPS.

According to FDC, 33 of their members are kept at Kitalya Prison whereas three of them are with Luzira maximum prison. The FDC demanded that the Kenyan government take immediate action to resolve the situation.
By the time of filing this story, the suspects are appearing before the Buganda court.
