NEWS– The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Women Council National Chairperson Hon. Sophie Kenyangi has commended the Mufit of Uganda sheikh Shaban Ramadan Mubajje and Muslim fraternity for considering and advocating for Muslim women in the Constitution of Uganda Muslim supreme council structures to engage in different portfolios in leadership across the country.

Hon. Kenyangi expressed happiness that this has enabled women to get involved in the National Politics asking them to respect leadership structure and use it for empowering young women if they are to cause positive transformation of their colleagues and electorate at the Muslim grassroots.

She mad remarks on Sunday as chief guest during the closure of a three day Muslim women seminar at Ntungamo Muslim Headquarter Main Mosque in Ntungamo Municipality.

Kenyangi also challenged women to love their husbands in order to avoid domestic violence since it is one of the major causes of death in the country.

She commended the district Kadhi Sheikh Swalleh Kashangirwe and secretary for women and youths Affairs Ampaire Sakina Imamu for organizing such a seminar to empower rural women in different aspects of life.

Hon. Kenyangi who is also the Director of Old Kampala hospital donated ten sewing machines for women to be trained and tasked them to venture in skill development for the income generating projects at household level.

The Ntungamo Muslim District Kadhiz Sheikh Swalleh Kashangirwe appealed to Local government leaders to always recognize Muslim women saying that they been have neglected for so long in many platforms.

Sheikh Swalleh Kashangirwe noted that it’s high time consider them in developmental programs as they need them during election season.

He thanked Sheikh Abduallah Yunusi Rwamahe, the Imaam for Kiruhuura district for being talented in articulating and preaching Quran in Runyankore/ Rukiga for easy understanding.

Chairman Ntungamo Muslim District Bukenya Saed emphasized the need for Muslims to work within the parameters of Uganda Muslim supreme council constitution if they are to grow and develop.

Ampeire Sakina Imamu the secretary for women and youth Affairs hailed women for participating in the women seminar and facilitators for impacting knowledge and skills in them.

Sakina Imamu thanked and commended the district Kazhi for allowing the seminar first of kind  in the district and asked attendants to portray positive change in behavior.

She also thanked their husbands for allowing their women to participate in such seminar and urged women to practice what they have been taught such that husbands can see change in them.

Sakina thanked fellow women leaders for the cooperation that enabled the seminar to be successful.

The women representatives discussed several action points aiming at unity and enhancement of Women potential towards sustainable development among Muslim Women country-wide.
