KANUNGU– The Minister for ICT and National Guidance Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi has said that the government program to start the skilling program is deliberate to ensure that the youth get employment opportunities which they can create themselves.
Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi who is also the Member of Parliament for Kinkizi East, said this on Sunday, November 26th 2023, while speaking as the Guest of Honor at Kihihi Community Polytechnic fundraising during a fundraising to raise money for the construction of a Boys Dormitory.
The Minister hailed the Management of Kihihi Community Polytechnic who planned to put in place infrastructural development without waiting for the government and promised that he will lobby from the Ministry of Education and Sports the needs of equipment needed to help the students especially the special needs students who need a braille machine.
The Minister appreciated Kihihi Community Polytechnic efforts to train the 8 Speacial Needs students whom the District authorities managed to get out of their homes after the COVID-19 pandemic and took them for training.
This was after Kihihi Community Polytechnic Chairman Board of Governors Engineer Charles Izara said that the School has the capacity to train 20 Speacial Needs students, saying that the Polytechnic is the only one offering this opportunity to Visually Impaired students across the country.
Over Ugx 16 million was raised in cash and pledgess at the function that included 2 bags of cement and 8 trips of sand for the construction of the block that is now at foundation stage.
Earlier, the Head of instructors , Ronald Asiimwe Jaack said that they decided to hold the fundraising after the number of students increased from 68 to 377 of which 273 are male and 104 are female which necesiated that they create accomodation for them since most of them come from very far outside Kanungu District.
Asiimwe said that the expansion program at Kihihi Community Polytechnic is in line with the strategic plan by the institute which is one of the leading and most sought after Polytechnic in the whole country in providing quality and demand driven skills at affordable cost in response to community needs in line with Vision 2040, National Development Plan III and the NRM Manifesto.
Kihihi Community Polytechnic which admits P.7 Leavers to train for Uganda Junior Technical Certificate ( UJTC) and S.4 Leavers to train for National Certificate Courses in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Plumbing, Building and Construction, Electrical Installation, Agriculture, Carpentry and Joinery, Home Economics and Kiswahili.
Meanwhile politics of divisionism have been cited as detrimental to the development of community in the country because local leaders dwell more on pulling each other basing on political divisionism that lobbying for services to help the people.
This observation was yesterday made by the Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi who is also the Vice Chairman of NRM in Western Uganda while speaking at various functions in Kinkizi West in Kanungu District.
The Minister presided over the fundraising at Kihihi Community Polytechnic in Kihihi town Council and also officiated at the fundraising of St Praise Nursery and Primary School in Kyajura village in Nyamigoyi, in Kanyantorogo Sub County and later officiated at the opening of the new NRM Yellow Together Kinkiizi West office in Kihihi Town Council
The Minister asked the elected leaders especially the District leaders to concertrate on provision of social services regardless of their religious or political beliefs because such services help all the people.
He said that provision of social services do not progress with race, tribe, religion or political beliefs because when such services are put in place they serve all the people.
