NEWS- One person has died on spot in a Rubirizi Motorcycle accident along Mbarara – Kasese Highway.
The accident happened on Monday night at around 10pm in Ndekye Trading Center, Rubirizi district when an over speeding motorcycle Bajaj Boxer registration No UFX 600V knocked down a male pedestrian killing him instantly.
According to some of the eyewitnesses, the deceased had left home to enjoy the New Year’s vibe but was unfortunately knocked while crossing the road. The motorcycle from the side of Nyakasharu heading to Ishaka ran over him in the middle of the road leaving him lifeless.
According to ASP Tumwebaze Richard, the Officer In charge of Traffic Rubirizi district, the accident also left the motorcycle rider seriously injured and was identified as Tumusiime Brinton, a resident of Kizinda Town council in Bushenyi district.
By press time, Police had already visited the scene and the body of the deceased was handed over to relatives for burial after a postmortem report from Rugazi Health Center IV mortuary and the motorist is now receiving treatment at Kampala International University Teaching Hospital (KIU) Ishaka.
In a separate incident, at least three people on Tuesday morning narrowly survived death after a speeding motorvehicle carrying one passenger knocked down a man at Katakondwa stage in Ishaka, Bushenyi district along Kagamba – Ishaka road.
Eyewitnesses who could not identify the registration number of the motorcycle (Bajaj Boxer ) told this publication that it was around midday when the man only identified as Derrick was crossing the road and the motorcycle heading to Ishaka town knocked him leaving him with broken leg bones.
The passenger also sustained serious chest injuries though the rider ran away in fear of being lynched by the angry mob.
