NEWS- The Police in Sheema District are hunting for a 36 year old Man for allegedly hacking his 18 year old niece with a hoe to death.
SSP Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, confirmed the incident that happened on Sunday 31st December 2023, at around 11:50 pm at Nyanga Central cell, Nyanga ward in Kabwohe division of Sheema Municipality.
Tumusiime further identified the suspect as Agaba Dickson, a peasant resident of the same area who hacked Tushemerirwe Fortune with a hoe to death.
It is reported that on Sunday, at 11:50pm, the deceased with her brother were at their uncle’s home (suspect) as they were drinking and dancing waiting for the New Year.
Tumwebaze Benson a boda boda rider who reported the case to the police and the father of the deceased said the suspect started the fight, picked a panga and cut his nephew one Tumwebaze on the right hand, as the deceased tried to rescue her brother ( Tumwebaze) ,the suspect hit her on the head with an old hoe that had a broken handle killing her instantly”
The Police spokesman noted that a team of homicide and soco visited the scene where few statements were recorded, killer weapons recovered and exhibited.
The body was taken to Kabwohe Health Centre IV mortuary for postmortem examination as inquiries into the matter continue.
