NEWS- The Woman Member of Parliament for Rubanda district, Hon. Prossy Begumisa Mbabazi, and also a commissioner in the Parliament of Uganda, urged the community to collaborate for the proper upbringing of children, aiming to reduce the prevailing moral decay.
Hon. Begumisa made this call during the induction service of Ven. Ernest Nkwasibwe as St. James Muko Archdeacon in Muko Sub-County, Rubanda district.
The commissioner highlighted the current trend where parents solely rely on maternal figures for imparting moral values, contributing to increased moral decay in the community.
Hon. Begumisa emphasized that parents need to take a more active role in disciplining their children, contrasting it with a time when such responsibility was widely shared among parents. She urged parents to unite and focus on nurturing morally upright children.
Furthermore, Hon. Begumisa dispelled the notion that the government owns children, advising parents to plan for their children’s well-being. She cautioned against a false mentality and encouraged parents not to shy away from disciplining their children.
Hon. Begumisa reminded the community that government officials also have responsibilities in their homes and should not be solely relied upon for the upbringing of children.
The Legislator stressed the importance of unity within the community, stating that promoting unity and love will lead to the development of their communities. Hon. Begumisa called for a collective effort in finding solutions for the proper upbringing of children, urging everyone to contribute to building a morally sound society.
In other news, Christians have been urged to respect and cooperate with their church leaders in enhancing God’s kingdom.
The call was on Sunday of the 26th November, 2023 made by The Very Rev Can Obed Turihohabwe, the St Peter’s Cathedral Rugarama Dean, while preaching in the induction service of Ven. Earnest Nkwasiibwe, the new Archdeacon of St. James Muko Church of Uganda Archdeaconry in Muko Sub-County of Rubanda District.
Can Turihohabwe noted that most Christians often disrespect and neglect their church leaders in carrying out various church activities, which has hindered the development and the propagation of the gospel in communities.
He asked believers to cultivate in them a giving culture as one way of supporting the work of the gospel. The cleric described Ven Nkwasiibwe as a dedicated and visionary minister, alluding to his former achievements during his service as deputy Sub-Dean until his appointment as the Muko Archdeacon.
The Very Rev Can Turihohabwe also challenged church leaders to embrace servant-leadership, diligence and humility while tending God’s sheepfold.
The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna, tasked Ven Nkwasiibwe to be a faithful ambassador of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to serve the flock entrusted to him without segregation, but rather unite them into harmony and development, despite the challenges that await him in his new task.
