NEWS- The Superintendent of Police, Joseph Bakaleke, the District Police Commander (DPC) of Kabale District has revealed that they have received 118 applications from youth aspiring to join the Uganda Police, with 38 of them being females.
DPC Bakaleke disclosed this during an interview with our reporter at his office located at Kigezi Regional Police Station in Kabale Municipality.
Bakaleke expressed appreciation for those who submitted their application forms but noted that they had anticipated a higher turnout. Bakaleke cited challenges faced during the exercise, including some applicants lacking national identity cards, exceeding the age limit of 23, or failing to meet the educational requirements.
Bakaleke emphasized the importance of public participation in government initiatives and announced that the applications would be forwarded to the national police headquarters in Kampala and that shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews at the district level.
The Uganda Police released an advertisement on February 7, 2024, seeking applicants aged between 18-23 years to fill 2500 positions, with the application deadline expiring on February 18th.
