The Police in Kanungu District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a one year and nine months identified as Kato Pauline daughter of Oudira Tushabahurira a resident of Mushunga Village in Kiringa Parish in Kambuga Sub-county.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the incident and said that it’s alleged that on Friday last week while the little child was at her neighbor’s place called Sunday Fauster playing in the compound, the mother went to pick her, she found when she was taking some liquid substance in a bottle while the Sunday Fauster was watching on.
It is reported that after reaching home with the child, she developed some medical complications and they rushed her to Kambuga Hospital for treatment, where was later referred to Bwindi Community Hospital where she was pronounced died on the 15th June 2025.
The case was yesterday reported by the mother, the scene was visited and documented, a white bottle containing some substance with some bad smell was exhibited and the body was examined at Kambuga hospital, where some body organs were extracted for submission to Governmebt Analytical Laboratory for analysis.
Sunday Fauster who is a prime suspect was unfortunately assaulted by the mob but was rescued by Police and currently admitted at Kambuga hospital under Police Guard as investigations go on.
