ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi regional Police spokesman

The Police in Kabale District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified man whose body was found lying at Nyakijumba – Mwanjari road in Rushaki Ward in Southern division of Kabale Municipality.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed that the body was found in the morning of 15th December 2025, which means that the deceased was likely to have been murdered in the night of the 14th December at unknown time.

Maate explained that the information was passed on to the Police by the area Chairperson Namara John Fisher and the scene of crime was visited, processed and documented by the Police team from Kabale Central Station including the K-9 unit led by the district CID officer Tumwine Nelson.

Its reported that when the Police K-9 dog was introduced to the scene to trace for the unknown assailants but it failed to pick the scent.

Maate explained that statements were recorded from relevant witnesses, and the the body was retrieved, found with fresh injuries on the head and dressed in suspected bloodstained clothes and taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mourtuary for postmortem examination.

Maate said that wheareas investigations are still going on, anyone with a missing the dear one should visit the Kabale Hospital Mortuary so that the body is identified and taken for a decent burial.

Meanwhile the Police in Kanungu District have arrested three suspects to help in investigations in an alleged murder of a 52 year old Saturday Alex a resident of Rwenyerere village, in Kihihi Town Council.

Maate identified those arrested as Kanungu district as Jackline Tushemerirwe who is a wife to the deceased, Habert Ngurusi and Seperanza Twikyirize.

It’s alleged that, the deceased Alex Saturday has been married to Jackline Tushemereirwe for over 20 years, and the couple have been known drunkards who have been experiencing a long term domestic violence over suspicion that Tushemereirwe was secretly having a love affair with one Ngurusi Herbert.

It’s reported that on 14th December, Tumuramye Boniface saw the deceased and his wife Tushemereirwe in company of their two family friends Ngurusi Herbert and Twikirize Esperanza slopping down to their former home in Kyozi village and moments later Saturday Alex was found unconscious in a nearby bush in Kyozi village by Mackylin who had gone to collect food from their garden.

Mackylin notified her mother who happens to be the sister in law to the deceased, who went and took Saturday Alex to Kihembe Health Center II for treatment where he was pronounced dead and the body was taken back to their home and nobody bothered to report the matter to the Police.

However, later the residents went and attacked the deceased’s wife accusing her of having murdered her husband and was arrested by the area Chairperson LC 1 Kyozi cell and handed over to Kihihi Police Station where she was  accordingly charged.

The scene of crime was visited and documented by the team of Police officers from Kihihi Police Station and the body was conveyed to Kihihi Health Center IV Mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations continue.
