The Police in Kabale District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 35 year old man identified as Noel Manishimwe alias Kadogo a casual worker and a resident of Ruhinga village in Rwambogo in Katebe Sub-county in Bulera District of the Republic of Rwanda.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that it’s alleged that, two children both aged below ten years were grazing animals on New Years Day when they came across a dead body in the forest at Rubumba village in Kahungye Sub-county in Kabale district, and they went and informed the Area chairperson Akankwasa Bedasmus about the matter.

Chairman Akankwatsa in turn went at the crime scene together with the Defense Secretary to find out more about what the children had told him and indeed they confirmed that there was a dead body of an unidentified male adult. 

Maate explained that some people who crossed from Rwanda to Uganda yesterday Jan 2nd 2026, were able to identify the deceased as Manishimwe Noel alias Kadogo and they confirmed that the deceased was their relative, who was pursued from Rwanda and lynched from across the border in Uganda. 

Maate explained that a report of suspected murder by mob was registered, the scene was visited, processed and documented and statements recorded from eye witnesses and the first respondents.

Maate said that the dead body which was found with a deep injury on the skull, was conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination and efforts are being done with the authorities from Rwanda by the relatives to ensure that the body to be transported back as investigations continue.
