NEWS- Rukiga District Woman MP, Hon. Kamusiime Caroline Muhwezi, has rewarded 2019 pupils who excelled in their 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations with mattresses.
This initiative aims to motivate students to excel academically, and it’s not the first time she’s done this. In fact, she has been rewarding PLE stars annually since 2017, covering both private and government-aided primary schools across all sub-counties and town councils in Rukiga District.
The beneficiaries and their parents have praised Hon. Kamusiime for her efforts, which have not only boosted student performance but also helped reduce school dropout cases. Rukiga District Inspector of Schools, Katungi Jackson, commended Hon. Kamusiime’s initiative, saying it has had a positive impact on education in the district.
Rukiga District LC5 Chairperson, Robert Mbabazi Kakwere, also praised Hon. Kamusiime’s commitment to education and community development. He noted that her rewards program has motivated students to work harder and strive for excellence.
Rukiga District Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Zadoki Kamusiime, vowed to deal with any parent who fails to take their children to school, citing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s introduction of free education under Universal Primary and Secondary Education.
Hon. Kamusiime plans to expand her rewards program to include students who excel in O and A-level exams. She believes that her mattress-gifting initiative has contributed significantly to the improvement in PLE performance.
Additionally, she has pledged to remind the President about his unfulfilled pledges in Rukiga District, particularly the tarmacking of the Muhanga-Kisizi road.
