UGANDA- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has underscored the importance of technology, skills and practical education saying that its where Uganda’s true path to liberation lies but not just in politics.

The President made the remarks while officially launching the Presidential Zonal Industrial Hub in Ntoroko District which is one of several skilling centers across the country aimed at equipping youth especially from underprivileged backgrounds with practical vocational skills.

“These skilling hubs are free and provide accommodation, meals, medical care, and hands-on training. They are like saltgiving flavor and meaning to the lives of our young people,” the President said and added, “In the past, we had kings, priests, poets, but no technology. Now, we are investing in skills that will create wealth and transform our communities.”

The launch of the Presidential Zonal Skilling Hub in Ntoroko District is part of President Museveni tour of the Tooro and Rwenzori regions to assess the implementation of the Parish Development Model and get first hand information on how the beneficiaries have progressed.

The President’s visit underscores the government’s broader efforts to promote inclusive development, reduce poverty and equip Ugandans with the tools needed to thrive in a modern economy.

While addressing leaders of the Rwenzori sub-region in Bundibugyo District, President Museveni reaffirming the government’s commitment to transforming Uganda’s economy through the Parish Development Model.

The President emphasized that the Parish Development Model is a strategic initiative aimed at integrating all Ugandans into the money economy by starting development at the household level.

He called upon local leaders to play an active role in ensuring its success through regular follow-up and guidance within their communities.

“I want every household to be part of the money economy. The leaders must help guide and monitor progress at the grassroots,” the President said.

Museveni commended the people of Bundibugyo for their dedication to cocoa, palm oil and fish farming, singling out the success of Bernard Kacuuro’s farm who has emerged as a shining example.

He also stressed the importance of full implementation of Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) in government schools as key tools in empowering Uganda’s next generation.
