President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on July 10, 2025, was joined by the Government Chief Whip, Hon Denis Hamson Obua, Ministers Hon Judith Nabakooba for Lands, Hon Raphael Magyezi for Local Government and Hon Joyce Ssebugwawo, State Minister for National Guidance together with the State House Comptroller, Jane Barekye joined at the Wakiso District Headquarters playground for a significant engagement with National Resistance Movement (NRM) party local leaders.
The visit, which drew leaders from various sub-counties across the district, served as a direct platform for community representatives to raise pressing development challenges affecting their areas.
Wakiso local leaders voiced concerns over the absence of government secondary schools in some sub-counties, which they said continues to hinder access to affordable education for children in the area.
They also highlighted the difficulty faced by youth in accessing the Kayunga Skilling Hub due to long distances and poor transport options.
Additionally, the leaders noted inadequate road infrastructure, limited access to clean water, and under-equipped health facilities, especially in fast-growing peri-urban communities.
Youth unemployment was also a key issue, with calls for more localized skilling centers and financial support to enable young people to start income-generating ventures.
President Museveni, in his response, reaffirmed the government’s resolve to close service delivery gaps and promote equitable development.
He pointed to ongoing infrastructure projects and the implementation of the Parish Development Model as key avenues to address these challenges, especially in empowering households economically and enhancing access to essential services.
The event also highlighted the NRM government’s continued focus on participatory governance, grassroots consultation, and inclusive development.
