President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has revealed that the Parish Development Model (PDM) money is going to be increased tenfold from Ugx 100m to Ugx 1bn for the urban-based parishes in the city divisions to support household income generation.
The President made the revelation today July 18th 2025, during a rally at Kawempe Mbogo Grounds on his assessment tour of Parish Development Model implementation.
The President was accompanied by the Government Chief Whip Hon Denis Hamson Obua, Minister of State for Privatization and Investment Hon Evelyn Anite and the Minister of State for Micro-Finance Hon Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune where he also urged residents to embrace government wealth creation programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga.
“Instead of putting Ugx100 million per division, I will now put Ugx 1 billion and this shall only be for the ghetto-like groups since there are more people in towns than in the rural areas,” President Museveni said.
The President emphasized that peace is essential for development and highlighted that infrastructure alone such as roads, hospitals and buildings is not enough, however, households must also generate wealth.
President Museveni encouraged citizens to utilize government funds effectively to improve their standards of living and assured them of continued support in transforming livelihoods through inclusive economic initiatives.
Ealier in the day President Museveni visited the Ghetto structures in Kawempe, where the community members are engaged in various activities funded by their SACCOs and noted that it is encouraging to see the progress they have made and how their lives are improving.
The President announced that the government will allocate more funds to their structures in each division of Kampala and congratulate them on their achievements and wished them continued success as they work to enhance their lives.
