President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has unveiled plans to attract investors to establish an ovacado plantation at Kyaka in Kyegegwa District and also construction an industrial park in the area which is part of the NRM strategy to increase job opportunities and production for macro economic growth and development.
President Museveni revealed this development yesterday evening while speaking at a campaign rally at Sooba Primary School Play Grounds in Kyegegwa District where he advised the people on the vast job opportunities in sectors including commercial agriculture, services and skills as demonstrated by graduates of the Presidential Zonal Industrial Skilling Hubs graduates.
President Museveni confirmed that the government has signed a contract for the construction of Kazo – Burunga – Mpara – Kyegegwa – Karuguza road and the commencement of of construction works for Kibura – Bwizi road.
President Museveni has also confirmed the further budget alignment to core development initiatives through strategic prioritization and announced plans for enhancement of water distribution in Kyegegwa District for both domestic and production purposes and promised further health interventions for Kyegegwa District through the elevation health facilities and construction of more new ones.
President Museveni commended the people of Kyegegwa District for embracing coffee farming and has challenged them to further diversify their wealth creation plans and instructed wealth people to leave the Parish Development Model funds to the poor for their own development.
Meanwhile President Museveni has said that the enhancement of production and skills is the ultimate cure for poverty among the populace and has rallied Ugandans to harness opportunities in those sectors as a wealth creation strategy.
President Museveni made the remarks last evening during a media interaction with journalists from Tooro and Rwenzori Sub regions at Fort Portal State Lodge where he unpacked the immense job opportunities in different specialities and cautioned the populace against the colonial mentality of only focusing on the few government jobs only.
The President highlighted significant strides made by the NRM government in improvement of service delivery in core aspects of health, education, security, justice and order sectors among others on which Uganda’s development trend is anchored
He assured the country of more progressive interventions to spur national development in vast sectors and dared Gen Z to explain their ideological inclination to East Africa’s market integration and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area.
President Museveni reaffirmed East Africa’s urgent need for political Federation as a basis for strategic security for the region and African Continent at large and noted that the broad security dimensions in Air, Sea, Space and Land require a joint political block of states like the East Africa Federation to counter emerging global security threats against Africa
He commissioned an audit into queries pertaining the issuance of Parish Development Model funds targeting corrupt officials threatening the success of the initiative and hinted on plans to resettle Lake Albert flood victims in Ntoroko District with a package to revive their Livelihoods after the said flood victims were affected by the rising water levels on Lake Albert which led to displacement of people along its catchment area.
President Museveni noted that he has instructed the Prime Minister Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja to intervene into the matter and swiftly resolve the matter as was done for other communities living in high risk areas.
