President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today received the body of the late Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV at Entebbe International Airport.
President Museveni eulogized the late King Oyo as a great leader whose reign was characterized by efforts to improve the welfare of his people and contribute to the development of the country.

Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV died on 27th August 2026 in the United States, where he had been undergoing medical treatment for cancer.
President Museveni received the body of the late Omukama Oyo at Entebbe International Airport following its repatriation from the United States, recounted the fallen King’s journey from his childhood and school years to his eventual ascension to the Tooro throne and leadership of his subjects.
The President highlighted Omukama Oyo’s leadership qualities, commitment to his people and the impact he made during his reign, noting that his contribution to Tooro and Uganda will remain part of his legacy and he spoke while accompanied at Entebbe International Airport by members of the bereaved Royal Family, Tooro Kingdom leadership and other dignitaries as he paid his last respects to the fallen King.
The arrival of the King’s remains marks the beginning of the official period of mourning as the country and the people of Tooro honor the life and legacy of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

President Museveni said he met Omukama Oyo in November last year when he revealed to him his medical condition that eventually led to his treatment course abroad and called for calmness among the people of Tooro in this trying moment
The casket containing the remains of the Late Omukama Oyo has been airlifted from Entebbe International Airport to Kyegegwa District, from where a public procession will proceed through Kyegegwa, Kyenjojo and Kabarole Districts before entering Fort Portal City and proceeding to Karuziika Palace.
