KAMPALA- High court delays hearing of the Katanga trial again as the 10th prosecution witness makes no show on Tuesday.
Earlier last month, Production asked for a 2 weeks break to prepare more witnesses but today the team led by Chief state Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya started with an apology to Justice Isaac Muwata claiming its expected witness travelled up-country over the weekend and made a late entry in Kampala only to find the police’s exhibit store under lock and key .
Muwaganya has then stated that in the circumstances prosecution is unable to proceed with the hearing today and sought for an adjournment to tomorrow the matter in which; the Widow Molly Katanga , her 2 daughters Martha Nakwzi and Patricia Kakwanzi are charged with the alleged murder of the family’s patriarch Henry Katanga on 2nd November last year .
The group is further charged alongside the shamba boy George Amanyire and a nursing officer Charles Otai.
The 2 men together with the Katanga daughters are facing charges of being accessories after the commission of murder and destroying valuable evidence which would have been relied on by proseuction to prove the alleged murder.
Molly Katanga still remains seated in jail at Luzira women’s prison where she follows her trial on zoom while her daughters, Amanyire and Otai are out on bail.
