NEWS- The Police in Kanungu District have instituted investigations into circumstances that led to the death of a casual labourer who worked as a herdsman in Nyakabungo Town Council.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate told journalists that the deceased identified as Turyahabwa Caleb was on Wednesday morning found hanging on a rope in a room where he slept.
According to Maate, the incident was discovered by Muhwezi Sulaiman who was the employer to the deceased when he went to check in his room and found the lifeless body hanging close to a metallic door.
Muhwezi is reported to have immediately informed the local leaders that the 45 year old man who had been looking after his cows for the last 10 years had committed suicide and they also reported the matter to the Police at Nyakabungo Police Post.
Maate said that the scene of crime was visited and documented and statements recorded from relevant witnesses and the body handed over to the relatives for burial after a postmortem examination.
The case was registered at Nyakabungo Police Post under reference number 06/20/02/2024 to help in investigations.
