The Police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 21 year old man identified aa Kwikiriza Ian a casual labourer and a resident of Kembeho Village in Kashuri Parish in Kambuga Sub-county.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists today morning that the lifeless body of Kwikirza was yesterday found in Rwenyerere cell by Mbonimpa Vicencio after receiving a phone call from Turinawe Kenneth informing him that his goats were still home because the person supposed to set them off for grazing wasn’t doing so.
It is reported that Turinawe went with his mother to check where Kwikiriza was staying and found him still sleeping, something that was unusual and when they tried to knock the door they found it locked from inside but no one was responding.
This prompted them to break into thechouse and they found him lying on the mattress facing down and thats when they informed his employer Mbonimpa what they had found and he reported the incident to the Police.
Maate explained that the scene of Crime was visited, a small bottle of pesticide named striker was found near the bed and vomits on the bed, which aroused suspicion that he could have committed suicide by drinking poison.
Maate said that relevant statements were recorded and a postmortem examination was done at Kihihi Health Centre IV and the body was handed over to the relatives for a decent burial as insurance continue.
