The Police has confirmed that Kamuli District Chairperson, Maxwell Kuwembula has died in a horrific road accident that occurred today Thursday June 12th 2025 morning in Nakifuma, Mukono District along the Gayaza – Kayunga road.
The Mukono District Officer in Charge of Traffic Ms Loy Ziramuke told journalists that Kuwembula who was coming from Kampala side met his death when he knocked a stationery Sinotruck at around 5:00am.
It is reported that Chairman Kuwembula who was alone was personally driving a Toyota Hilux double cabin pickup truck belonging to the Ministry of Health which he has been using for official duties and his body has been retrieved and taken to Kayunga General Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination
The Police said that the accident caused a big impact and the vehicle’s engine compartment ripped apart, shattered windshields and blood-stained debris indicating the force of the impact.
The late Kuwembula had been serving as the District Chairperson since 2021 and was known for his close ties to both local and central government leadership and his death is a big blow to the leadership of Busoga sub-region.
