Presidential Candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has proposed the enactment of a law recalling non performing leaders from their assumed position after evidence of absentee opposition politicians who assumed positions of leadership in Mpigi district.
President Museveni noted that similar provisions were proposed in the constituent Assembly as a cure to leaders who fail to perform after their election and he has challenged the people of Mpigi district to reflect on that proposal.
President Museveni made the proposal yesterday while campaigning in Mpigi district where summoned youth leaders and NRM leaders in Mpigi district for a meeting to discuss among others service delivery strategies in that area.
Candidate Museveni confirmed plans to establish a district General hospital in Mpigi district, granted a Ferry for Buyiga Isladers and a public market for Mpigi district among others.
He however blamed voters in Mpigi district for electing inconsequential opposition politicians into leadership as results show their gross failure in monitoring and lobbying for service delivery.
President Museveni promised to fast track landlord compensation funds as he rallied the people of Mpigi district to utilize the land laws to defend their tenure and noted that the NRM government at inception clearly outlined land rights for tenants and lands distinctively.
President Museveni tasked the Mpigi Resident District Commissioner Ms Sarah Nanono to explain counter interventions for land grabers in the district, road funds utilisation and Parish Development Model.
The first lady and Minister of Education and Sports Mrs Janet Kataha Museveni who accompanied the President tasked the people of Mpigi district to translate their support into real votes on polling day and end the opposition politicians rhetoric in Mpigi district because they hinder service delivery.
The NRM Vice Chairperson for Buganda Sub region Hon Haruna Kasolo decried opposition politicians corruption tendencies that have hindered development aspirations for Mpigi district as he asked the electorate in the district to vote for NRM flag bearers throughout for improved service delivery.
