Museveni arriving at Kibale Play Grounds in Rakai District

The National Resistance Movement Party Presidential Candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has warned opposition politicians threatening to cause riots post election period and defined the motive as suicidal during his first Campaign rally in Greater Masaka which was held in Rakai District.

While addressing a campaign rally at Kibale Play Ground in Rakai District, President Museveni affirmed the readiness of Uganda’s security teams to decisively deal with those intending to disrupt the country’s hard attained peace and unity.

He said that the Uganda’s peace and unity cannot be overturned by selfish politics by opposition actors as seen in other countries across boarders and rallied people of Rakai District to continue entrusting the NRM government by re-electing him and all NRM flag bearers in the forthcoming general elections. 

Candidate Museveni has confirmed government plans to tarmac Kabingo – Lugaaga – Magabi – Ntantamuki – Rakai road and Lyantonde – Lumbugu – Lwamaggwa – Rakai road in his next term of office to supplement on the already established tarmac roads in Rakai District to further improve Mobility of goods and services in the area.

The National Resistance Movement Party Presidential Candidate noteed that the NRM government has strategically tarmacked major highways connecting to Rakai District that include Mutukula – Masaka – Kyotera road, Mbarara – Kabingo – Kikagate to Tanzania border among others.

President Museveni warned Parliamentarians against misappropriate and misbudgeting against the priority areas of infrastructural developments and cautioned the electorate of Rakai District against voting for inexperienced and naive opposition politicians.

The National Resistance Movement Party Presidential Candidate noted that the NRM national development plans are well crafted and only require likeminded leaders to execute them into reality, the reason they should vote for NRM flag bearers at all levels.

He commended the people of Rakai District for their mass involvement into coffee farming and promised to establish irrigation schemes to enhance their farm yields and noted that the government’s earlier offer of coffee seedlings distribution efforts in Rakai District are now bearing results in the expansive coffee gardens spread all over and directly translating into wealth creation for households.

President Museveni promised to scaleup coffee farming initiatives to attain maximum wealth creation targets for all households in Rakai District including the establishment of irrigation schemes and asked the people of Rakai District to preserve wetlands to support the planned irrigation.

He said that he was optimistic that Uganda’s oil proceeds planned to start next year will be a game changer for the country’s key infrastructural developments and warned against wastage of the oil resource, but cautioned the people of Rakai against subsistancehood living and defined the vice as cheating on those actively involved in economic activities.

Candidate Museveni noted that the NRM government is practically supporting and guiding the people on wealth creation through the vast socioeconomic empowerment funds right from the Entandikwa, Operation .

He announced a mass piped water distribution plan from Kagera River to Rakai district to enhance safe and clean water reach to all villages and promised to enhance job creation opportunities across sectors including skills training.

The NRM second National Vice Chairperson Rt Hon Anita Among who addressed thecsame gathering cautioned youth in Rakai District against falling prey to tricks by opposition politicians who wants to ruin their future through political chaos. 

Rt Hon Among has listed a number of development interventions implemented and those planned for Rakai District in the National Development Plan IV.

The NRM vice Chairperson for Buganda region Hon Haruna Kyeune Kasolo who is also the Minister of State for Microfinance Kasolo emphasized on the new plans for fishing communities in Rakai District as well as road infrastructual plans as presented in a Memorandum read by the NRM Chairperson for Rakai District Gyavira Ssemwanga.
