Nabbanja arriving in Bulambuli

NEWS- The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah has today November 29th arrived in Bulambuli District to do onspot assessment and condole with relatives of the deceased.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by State Minister for Disaster Preparedness Relief and Refugees, Hon Lillian Aber and was on arrival in the district received by Local and opinion leaders.

Prime Minister Nabbanja and team will assess the magnitude of the tragedy of a landslide that left many lives lost and scores missing.

The UPDF, Uganda Police and other security agencies with the help of the local community have intensified rescue operations, however they are being hindered by impassable roads.

The landslide, triggered by heavy rains mid this week, buried several homes and destroyed crops, leaving communities in shock and distress and affected, Masugu Town Council and Kimamolo village in Buluganya Sub-County.

The Office of the Prime Minister, Uganda Red Cross Society and other emergency agencies are working tirelessly to provide aid and support to those affected.

According to the Bulambuli Resident District Commissioner Hajjat Faheera Mpalanyi, a total of 19 bodies have been retrieved from the moulds of the landslides and over 150 people are still missing and there is no hope to find them still alive.
