Rubirizi District CAO Edward Kasagari

RUBIRIZI- Rubirizi District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Kasagari Edward has threatened to arrest all district civil servants who misuse offices and end up failing to perform their duties as allocated.

Kasagari’s bitter warning follows an internal report that indicated that most district officials have failed to perform as expected due to different factors. The report was raised in the council meeting on Wednesday 20th December 2023.

The CAO said that most of the workers have a ghost of absenteeism tendency at work, improper accountability and failing to make reports in time which is making the district perform poorly.

Kasagari says he will even fire those who fail to work as guided from their respective offices/departments and humbly requested those who think they can’t manage to retire in time before being fired or arrested.

He strongly warned that he won’t sit down and see people complaining about poor service delivery, government programs performing poorly yet it’s being caused by few individuals who are just seated at the district wasting the resources and time.

The Rubirizi District Chairman Aguba Sylvester challenged all civil servants and the community to know their duties, perform them if they want the district to develop. Aguba tasked sub – county/Town council leaders as well as locals to become overseers of government workers and always report those who don’t perform well to the responsible authorities.

Hon Katesigwa Steven, the speaker of Rubirizi district said there has been a problem of heads of departments making projects on their own without seeking guidance and approval from the district council to see if there is value for money arguing that this should stop now because it’s against the law.

Katesigwa therefore asked the community to always work with their leaders, welcome, support and defend government programs especially those that are aimed at eradicating poverty from the society.
