The Police in Kabale District have registered a fatal road accident where one person died and another one injured.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the accident that took place at Nyakigugwe along Kabale – Mbarara highway in Kabale District and involving motor vehicle registration number UBH 877D and Pedestrians.
Maate identified the deceased as 18 year old Akampurira Julius aged a student at Rock High School in Kabale and resident of Nyamishage village in Kaharo Sub-county in Kabale District while the injured was named as 18 year old Kobusingye Ameria, a student at Wakisa seeds secondary school in Wakiso District and resident of Lyakaremera village in Kaharo Sub-county.
It’s alleged that that while the motor vehicle was from Kabale side heading towards Mbarara, its driver whose particulars not yet established lost control and ended up knocking the two pedestrians who were walking using the same direction from Kabale side to Mbarara where after the incident the said driver drove off towards Mbarara side.
Maate explained that on reaching Bukinda in Rukiga District, he was intercepted by Police officers, and fearing to be arrested he disappeared leaving behind his vehicle in the hands of Police, while the victims were rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment where Akampurira died on arrival.
