The Uganda National Teachers Union and Uganda Technical and Vocational Trainers Union have announced an industrial action beginning on Monday 15th September 2025 demanding for salary increment.
According to a circular issued and signed by the Uganda National Teachers Union Secretary General Fibert Baguma and his Counterpart from the Uganda Technical and Vocational Trainers Union Agaba Nobert, the industrial action comes after they received no response from the Government, 3 years after they presented their demands.
As for Uganda Technical and Vocational Trainers Union, it gave the government an ultimate of 90 days to respond to their demands to raise their salaries or else they start an industrial action which they have now said will start on Monday 15th September 2025.
The two organisations have since asked parents and students to remain home since there will be no Teachers or Trainers to attend to them until the government responds to their salary increment demands.
Here below are the statements issued by Uganda National Teachers Union and Uganda Technical and Vocational Trainers Union in full.
