KAMPALA- President Museveni says that the globe will remember the late leader of the Catholic Church in the world, Pope Francis for his voice for peace, compassion and social justice.
His message was read by the vice president Jesca Alupo at a special prayer service to celebrate the life of the late Pope Francis at Rubaga Cathedral.
Museveni eloquized the deceased for his enthusiasm to collaborate with other denominations this symbolizing a true disciple of Jesus Christ.
He added that the government stands with the Catholic community in Uganda and the World during this trying moment.
In arelated development, the deputy speaker of parliament Thomas Tayebwa has challenged different religious leaders in Uganda to borrow a leaf from the late Pope Francis when it comes to preaching on humanity and peace.
Tayebwa revealed this while mourning the passing on of the late pope Francis and signing in the condolence book at Lubaga cathedral today morning.
Thomas Tayebwa noted that pope Francis every day used to pray for areas that are in conflict even when he was sick in hospital so that they can have peace.
Tayebwa noted the world and different countries fighting each other can only honor the late pope Francis’s work by stopping conflicts because the world is too big and it can accommodate all of us and all of us will die and leave the world.

He added that if conflicts are stopped there will be no more refugees in the world.
Tayebwa further noted that it is very important for the leaders to speak to those whom they disagree with as a way of exporting peace which has been advocated by the late Pope Francis during his entire life.

Tayebwa added that the late Pope has been advocating for life and he has been always against abortion which efforts have to be carried up by all political leaders and religious in the world because every life is important.

He highlighted that the late pope always asked the people to protect the environment which effort has to be carried if we are to have a world which is good to everyone.
Relatedly, Archbishop Luigi Bianco, the papal nuncio to Uganda, has implored Christians to continue the Pope’s message of fostering peace and forgiveness.
He made the remarks while leading the requiem mass for the late Pope Francis at Rubaga Cathedral this afternoon.
Bianca noted that it is befitting to continue promoting Pope’s message of peace in our families, communities and countries while forgiving others to enable us live in harmony.
He also asked Christians to embrace evangelism to bring many people close to God.
Meanwhile papal Nuncio urged Christians to pray that God guides the College of Cardinals in selection of the new Pope quickly.
