KAMPALA- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today morning welcomed the President of the Republic of Togo His Excellency Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé who is in Uganda on a working visit.
President Museveni and His Excellency Gnassingbé held a meeting at State House Entebbe where they discussed issues of bilateral mutual interest between the two countries and regional security.
The meeting comes after President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni recently called on African nations to take charge of their development agendas through homegrown solutions and regional integration and noted that external support, while helpful, is not a guarantee for sustainable progress in Africa.
The President waa officiating at the 11th Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development which took place at the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo, Kampala.
Togo President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé is therefore in Uganda to benchmark the practices that can be used in his country to transform the lives of his people and was last in Uganda in 2023 when he specifically benchmarked on how to fight terrorism.
President Museveni emphasized the importance of unity among African nations in addressing security challenges and advancing development goals.
The meeting was also attended by the former Prime Minister of Uganda, Amama Mbabazi, the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Hon Frank Tumwebaze Kagigi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen Jeje Odongo, the Director General of the External Security Organization Ambassador Joseph Ocwet and a delegation from Togo, including Robert Dussey, the Togo Minister of foreign Affairs.
