KAMPALA– A group of unidentified thugs, who allegedly stole over 25 million shillings and other valuables from the owner of Best Rates Forex Bureau in Ntinda, have narrowly escaped police arrest this evening.
It is alleged that the gang raided the vehicle of Daniel Echodu, who own best rates forex bureau which is located at capital shopper’s supermarket, along the Ntinda-Nakawa road and stolen cash 23 million shillings, two Apple watches valued at 3.5 million shillings and other important valuables on 23 August last year.
According to Police, the victim, who viewed the gang on CCTV cameras, recognized the same gang vehicle that had parked in the parking lot within the premises of Capital Shoppers Ntinda, and alerted the police.
In a shocking turn of events, police officers dispatched to arrest suspects were outsmarted by the thugs, who sped away in their Harrier vehicle with registration number UBQ 618M, leaving the officers empty-handed.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango said the suspected thugs sped away, but despite police efforts to deflate their tires, the suspects continued driving until they abandoned the vehicle on Commercial Road and escaped on foot.

Police have recovered a pair of number plates-UBN 127F they have been interchanging to avoid tracing master keys while the abandoned vehicle has been towed to Ntinda Police Station as the hunt continues.
