Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu with some Christians after delivering his Easter Massage

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has issued a strong appeal for global peace, warning that ongoing wars are worsening human suffering and fueling a growing refugee crisis.

While delivering his Easter message at his residence in Namirembe today April 2nd, Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu said conflict continues to displace millions, creating what he described as “armies” of vulnerable people, including orphans, widows and refugees.

He emphasized that war not only devastates nations directly involved but also has far-reaching economic and social consequences across the world.

He noted that Uganda is currently hosting more than two million refugees, reflecting the country’s commitment to offering sanctuary to those fleeing instability in neighboring regions.

However, he stressed that the strain on resources and the visible suffering in refugee settlements underline the urgent need for lasting peace.

Dr Kaziimba Mugalu said the plight of displaced families, especially children, reinforced his call for collective action to end conflicts.

He also highlighted the global ripple effects of war, pointing to rising commodity prices linked to instability in the Middle East and urged governments, institutions and individuals to prioritize peacebuilding efforts to curb displacement and restore human dignity.
