KAMPALA- Lawyers for Molly Katanga, the jailed widow of Kampala businessman Henry Katanga, have accused Andrew Mubiru Kizimula, Director of Forensic Services, of examining a different gun than the one submitted by police investigators.

During cross-examination on Thursday, it was revealed that the serial numbers on the alleged killer pistol and Mubiru’s DNA report didn’t match, suggesting Mubiru may have analyzed a gun from a different murder case.

Defense attorney Macdusman Kabega alleged that Mubiru; the DNA analyst, intentionally examined the wrong gun to incriminate Molly Katanga of her husband’s shooting.

Kabega also pointed out Mubiru’s past mistake in examining a blood-stained jerrican not submitted as evidence in the ritual sacrifice case of Masaka businessman Kato Kajubi .

Mubiru was further questioned about ignoring DNA testing on sticks and a baton recovered from the scene, potentially containing Molly Katanga’s DNA, which could prove she was battered on November 2, 2023.

Mubiru However denied all accusations and this was his 7th appearance as a witness since August 27, 2024 when he testified against the widow and his 2 daughter’s; Martha Nkwanzi and Patricia Kakwanza.

Trial judge Isaac Muwata has been adjourned until October 1st 2024.
