KANUNGU- A total of 1,216 women men were yesterday awarded certificates from Chris Baryomunsi Development Foundation after completing 6 months training in several skills that included tailoring and fashion design, salon and hair dressing, knitting and tie and die and metal fabrication.
According to the Program Coordinator Ms Juliet Bahati, the beneficiaries were drawn from all the 13 Subcounties and Town Councils in Kinkizi East Constituency aimed at giving lifetime skills to enable them get employed or create their own businesses.
While speaking at the event, the Minister of ICT and National Guidance Hon Dr. Chris Baryomunsi said that he decided to start the program after he realized that so many people were dropping out of schools before completing their education cycle and can’t find jobs.
He noted that starting the program needed enormous strategic planning that needed resources and money and thanked those who joined him to ensure that the objectives, vision and mission are realized as can be witnessed during the ceremony saying that this is one way to bring services closer to the people.
Minister Baryomunsi pledged to continue supporting the skilling program to supplement the efforts of the ongoing government skilling in the Industrial hubs like the of Kigezi Industrial Hub in Kamuganguzi Sub-county in Ndorwa West in Kabale District and urged all those who did not go ahead with their education and even those who want to learn extra skills to enroll because the program is free of charge and what is needed is their presence and time.
The Guest of Honor at the function, King Ceaser Mulenga hailed Dr Chris Baryomunsi for starting up the skilling program and urged the beneficiaries to form groups and a Sacco where they can be supported and gave the Sacco Ugx 200 million as startup capital.
He assured that the pledged money would be mobilised and be availed by the end of April so that they can start taking away from the Sacco at a small affordable interest rate of 2%.

King Ceaser Mulenga who is the Honarary Consul for Vietnam in Uganda and Chancellor King Ceaser University, pledged to support the skilling program by linking it to King Ceaser University and ensure that the trainees are given certificate and sign an agreement with Baryomunsi Development Foundation so that the trainees are able to be examined and be given authentic papers to allow them upgrade their academic career.
King Ceaser Mulenga used the opportunity to launch the Dr Chris Baryomunsi campaign as he prepares to offer himself for 5th term in Parliament and and also remain the NRM Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda.
While delivering a Keynote Address, Kabale District Chairman Nelson Nshangabashaija Baba Tata, noted that skilling program is the best offer Dr Chris Baryomunsi has delivered among other things during term of service and asked the people of Kanungu to keep supporting and electing him so that he can expand the program to all areas in Kigezi Sub Region.
Nshangabashaija told the people of Kinkizi East not to be taken by political waves but keep Hon Baryomunsi aa their Area Member of Parliament so that more can be achieved and vote him in the next election.
The occasion was spiced up my musicians led by Fravity Omuttuju, Rasta Charz, Ray G, Lady Diana and a jost of Gospel singes and upcoming musicians from Kanungu District and entertainment went on till day break.
Local politicians from Kanungu District led by the National Resistance Movement Chairman Godfrey Karabenda, religious and opinion leaders attended the event. Also present was Kanungu RDC Ambrose Mwesigye Amanyire, Deputy RDCs Zepher Mugisha and Emmy Magezi, the DPC Titus Kutosi and District Internal Security Organization staff.
