NEWS- The Police in Kabale District are investigating circumstances that led to the electrocution of a 13 year old girl in Kihumuro village, Katookye parish, Kyanamira sub county in Kabale District.
The deceased according to Kigezi Regional Police spokesman ASP Elly Maate is, Ainembabazi comfort female juvenile, a pupil of Kengoma primary school in primary six.
Ainembabazi is a resident of Rwesanziro village Katookye parish Kyanamira sub county Kabale District.
The case was according to Maate reported by Kakuru Pius 38, a driver resident of Rwesanziro village katookye parish kyanamira sub county in Kabale district.
Police report indicates that on Saturday 3rd May 2025 at around 1000hrs, the deceased one Ainembabazi comfort was sent to collect fire wood by the biological mother Kyakunzire Glorious.
Ainembabazi is said to have moved with other age mates to the forest to collect fire wood. The report further states that when they were busy collecting the fire wood, they came across electric wires which had lowered to the ground at about less than two(02) metres.
That Ainembabazi collided with the wire which shocked her. One of those she had moved with tried to save her but failed. They opted to running back home and informed the brother to now the deceased, Turyahebwa Barnet who informed Kakuru Pius about the matter.
Upon getting the information, Kakuru personally drove to the scene of crime to find out more about the matter, and later informed the police.
Maate told the press that upon receiving the information, a case file of Electrocution was opened at CPS Kabale, scene was visited and documented, the body retrieved from the scene, taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for examination.
“Statements were recorded from the first respondents and investigations are ongoing” said ASP Maate Elly, PRO Kigezi region.
