The Bishop of Diocese of Kinkizi Rt Rev Dan Zoreka, has urged students to remain hopeful, disciplined and hardworking, saying faith in God and personal determination are key to achieving success in life.
The Bishop made the remarks yesterday June 2nd afternoon during a confirmation service at Kinkizi High School Nyakatare in Kanungu District, where 42 students, including 19 girls and 23 boys, were confirmed into the Anglican faith.
The Bishop was received with a warm welcome from students, teachers, parents and Christians who lined up in celebration, accompanied by a brass band procession, singing and joyful chants and upon arrival, he officially commissioned a newly constructed Boys’ Dormitory, a milestone development aimed at enhancing students’ welfare and safe accommodation.
While preaching from Psalm 119:105, Bishop Zoreka encouraged the students to walk with God daily, remain focused on their goals, and avoid negative peer influence and reminded them that God has a purpose for every individual and called upon them to uphold good character and Christian values.
In his farewell message ahead of his retirement next year, the Bishop shared his life journey, attributing his achievements to God’s grace, hard work and determination and challenged the students to strive for greater academic excellence and live as responsible and God-fearing citizens.
Bishop Zoreka commended the school administration under the leadership of Headmaster Rev Emmanuel Mutabazi for the remarkable progress registered in both academic performance and infrastructure development.
The confirmation and farewell visit at Kinkizi High School marked the official part of the Diocesan transition programme through which the Bishop will visit every parish within the diocese as he concludes his episcopal ministry which he started in October 2010.
The Head teacher, Rev Emmanuel Mutabazi, welcomed Bishop Zoreka and his wife, Maama Florah and thanked them for their continued spiritual support and prayers for the school.
He congratulated the newly confirmed students for taking an important step in their faith journey and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to discipline, academic excellence, spiritual growth, talent development, innovation, teamwork, and service to God and noted that the Bishop’s visit would leave a lasting impact on the school and pledged continued commitment to the institution’s vision and mission.
The function, held at the school’s main hall, was attended by former Kanungu District Education Officer Goddie Willy Bakiga, Members of the Board of Governors, religious leaders, civil servants, teachers, parents and other invited guests.
The occasion was made even more memorable when Kinkizi High School students and staff presented Bishop Dan Zoreka with a birthday cake to celebrate lhis 64th birthday, which he marked on 1st June 2026.
