The Ministry of Transport and Works has announced the commencement of carrying out feasibility study and detailed engineering services for Kabwohe – Bugongi – Kitagata – Kabira – Rukungiri Road and Ruhinda – Kashemshero – Mitooma Road.
According to a circular dated 6th May 2026, signed by the Commissioner of National Roads, Eng Isaac Wani, all the people, leaders and other stakeholders have been asked to cooperate with the team that will carry out the exercise.
Eng Wani revealed that KKAT Consult Ltd in joint venture with Professional Engineering Consultants Ltd have been contracted to carry out by the Ministry to carry out the work.
According to the circular, the exercise will involve the detailed feasibility study and engineering design involving the Kabwohe – Rukungiri – Mitooma Road covering 99.2 kms and a spur of Ruhinda – Rwagiri Road covering 10.5 kms.
Eng Wani said that the assignment is part of of the Government efforts to improve connectivity and facilitate milobility and trade in Sheema, Rukungiri and Mitooma Districts.
He said that the feasibility studywill require the consultants to undertake a number of activities including data collection such as traffic flow, road condition and inventory, soil, materials and drainage, social economic surveys land acquisition and environmental impact assessments.
