The Police in Kasese have registered a case of suspected suicide by hanging following the discovery of a 78 year old woman identified as Mbambu Susana, a peasant and resident of Mumbuzi Cell, Nyamwamba Division in Kasese Municipality.

The Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the incident and disclosed that the case was reported yesterday by a 37 year old Kimbesa Nason, the Secretary for Defense of the same Area.

Maate explained that the Area chairperson of Mumbuzi cell, Ms Mbambu Annet Kule recieved a call from one Thembo Expedito Mwirima that the deceased, whom he had been staying with had committed suicide by hanging herself in her bedroom. 

This prompted the Chairperson Mbambu to send the Area Secretary for Defense to go and check and reported the matter at Kasese Central Police Station for further management. 

Maate revealed that a team of Police Homicide investigators who included the Scene of Crime (SOCO) rushed to the crime scene for examination and documentation and the body found hanging with a piece of cloth in a single room divided into two parts as a shop and bedroom and the body was retrieved from the scene and conveyed to Kasese Municipal Health Centre Mortuary for postmortem examination. 

Maate addressed the mourners at the scene and condemned the act and called the public to always share their grievances and also seek services of relevant offices and get counselled. 

It was established that the deceased has been staying with her daughter  Mbambu Margo who is a wife to Thembo Expedito Mwirima and the cause and reasons for the suicide are not yet identified.
