A total of Ugx 38 million in cash and pledges was yesterday raised at Burema Senior Secondary School in Kanyantorogo in Kanungu District for the construction of a Girls Dormitory.
According to the Headteacher Twehikire Baker, 6 bags of cement were also physically delivered while 329 bags of cement were pledged and 1 computer, 4 trips of sand and sports uniform and balls for boys and girls.
The Guest of Honor at the function Ms Esther Majambere Kanyaduharo who is contesting as Kanungu District Woman Member of Parliament said that Education is key to transform our communities especially by empowering the girl child while supporting the boy child.
Ms Majambere who contributed 300 bags of cement, said that people should not solely rely on government for school support but should engage the private partners to get better results.
The function was presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese of Kinkizi the Rt Rev Dan Zoreka assisted by several Clergy and was attended by several opinion and polite leaders from Kanungu District.
