Meanwhile Maate said tyat the NRM primary elections for District Chairpersons, District Councillors and Mayoral Candidates in the entire Kigezi Region went on normally, despite simple challenges that were being managed as they croped up.

Maate explained that in Kabale District, people were suspicious of the polling stations allocated inside the school premises at Kigezi High School in Rugarama and that one of Rushoroza Catholic Diocese with several schools, thinking that it was deliberately done to use students to cheat, which was not the case because security was sufficiently deployed.

Maate said that at the Kabale Main stadium, during the counting process,  supporters of one of the candidates went wild due to some persons crossing from the other side to do double voting, that caused some chaos and almost destroyed the register and the declaration forms, which prompted the security to whisk away the registrar to Kabale Central Police Station for her safety and the exercise was halted but was later resumed and exercise ended successfully.
