The Police in Kanungu District have arrested four suspects for questioning following the death of r0 year old Onesmus Musinguzi a teacher and resident of Rwabushunju cell in Northern Ward on Kanungu Town Council.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the arrest of the suspects and identified them as Nagasha Salim, Munyambabazi Isaac, Nuwagaba Henry and Musinguzi Ashraf, all residents of the same village.
Maate explained that the deceased was waylaid back on 17th July 2025, while he was coming from Mazollidi Trading Center and when he reached at keep left junction near Mazollidi Primary School going home by the four people whom he managed to identify as those mentioned above since they were all from his village.
The attackers are reported to have hit him with an unknown object and he fell down and one of the suspects picked the phone of the deceased from his pocket and called his Aunt Dianah who responded at the scene and rushed the victim to Katate Health Center IV
Maate told journalists that while at Katate Health Center the deceased was referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital from where he was later referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital where he died yesterday.
Maate said that a postmortem examination was conducted from Mulago City Mortuary and found out that his spinal cord got broken and upon receiving the information about his death, the Police immediately swung in action and the 4 suspects were arrested pending prosecution.
Maate asked people to desist from acts of lawlessness, but should only resort to legal means of settling their grievances instead of taking law into their own hands.
