Some of the suspects who were arrested in Kabale Police Swoop last night

The Police in Kabale have arrested 10 people during an intelligence-led operation that was carried out last night by the Kabale Central Police Station headed by the Officer in Charge Twesigye Davis.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that these are suspected wrong characters because they were got during the wee hours of the night from different places within Kabale Municipality.

Maate said that the suspects were looked at as a security threat that terrorizes the area since they could not give proper account for their movement and others were in possession and smoking opium.

The suspects include Dickens Agumenitwe, Nicholas Shabahurira, Fahadi Magoba, Patrick Kashenya, Micah Tuyishabe, Amon Turinawe, Ronald Tumukunde, Wilber Arinitwe, Gidion Ampeire and Brandin Mutoniwase.

Maate said that the same operations will continue within the township to minimize complaints associated with way laying travelers, snatching of bags, burglary and thefts to mention but a few.

Maate noted that since security is everyone’s priority, our people should minimize unnecessary movements in the night, if they must move, should move early enough, should use well lit streets, avoid panyas, avoid lonely movements and should also report people of suspicious characters who impose a public threat to the community in their areas as a preventative measure.

Maate explained that upon completion of inquiries against the suspects, they will accordingly be arraigned before courts of law to answer charges of smoking in possession of opium and public nuisance.

The Police operation comes a day after a woman was on Wednesday morning found stabbed to death at Cheers Pub and Accommodation in Kabale Municipality behind former Equity Bank.
