The chief executive officer of Uganda airlines Jenifer Bamuturaki has shocked members of parliament on the parliamentary committee on commissions statutory authorities and state enterprises when she attributed the 237.855billion shilling loss the company made in 2024 on the high costs of fuel, crew allowances and aircraft depreciation.

Bamuturaki made the remarks while appearing before the above committee chaired by Busiro east Mp Medard Lubega Ssegona during the scrutiny of the 2023-2024 auditor general’s report and the MPs on the committee asked the CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki to explain what brought all those losses.

Bamuturaki noted that the above factors she has revealed above have had a significant impact on the company operational performance and that the other costs the company has, have been put in two tranches.

The mps also asked Bamuturaki to explain what she has done to see that to stop the company from making other losses and in his explanation to the committee that they working had to manage their cost by renegotiating all the contracts they are having and they are signing new contracts they make sure they negotiate them to the born.

Ssegona also tasked Uganda airlines chief executive officer Jenifer Bamuturaki to give them the names of the companies which provides them with fuel and spare parts.

Bamuturaki some of the companies which they are dealing with are from America most especially those providing them with spare parts.
