Prof. Dumba Sentamu the chief guest

A total of 1567 graduates were awarded their Masters, degrees, post graduate diplomas, diplomas and certificates at Team University Kampala during her 15th graduation ceremony held at Pope Paul Memorial hotel on Friday.

Former Makerere University Vice Chancellor and now Chairman chairman centenary group of company, Prof. John Nsentamu Dumba presided the function.

Dumba urged  graduates to use the knowledge they have acquired at Team University to transform the society.

“It’s you who will transform your village district and the nation because your educated. Don’t sit with your degree and wait for government to give you job, just use the knowledge you have acquired here to start something for your own that will change your life and the life of others,” he said.

Sentamu praised the management of Team University with their directors for their vision of starting this institution with aim of reducing ignorance from the society. He also praised them for the theme of the day ” Go beyond boundaries” he urged graduands to go beyond boundaries in search of more education and more knowledge that can led them to success.

He said the major obstacle of going beyond boundaries is fear, you must first desist from fear then you will be able to go beyond the boundaries.

“Among those graduating today we have students from Burundi, Southern Sudan and Kenya. If they feared to cross the boarder they wouldn’t have attained this. I want to explore all of you especially from Uganda to set a side fear and go beyond boundaries in every aspect,” he said.

The University Chancellor, Prof. Tarsis Bazana Kabwengyere said when he completed first degree in 1968 he was not a ware that one time he will be Chancellor of Team University or any other political appointments he has passed through in life. There are many chances of going beyond boundaries when your educated.

“Today things are better unlike our time you can learn while preparing your super at home and get masters, PHD and others, try to use this opportunity and become big people in future,” he said.

Kabwengyere urged graduands to become change agents in their areas especially this time when the country is in elections.

“Our society is still backward to the extent of voting a person who has given them a lot of alcohol. Your the one to change that attitude so that people can vote for the development program one has not those who buy alcohol for them,” he said.

Kabwengyere said ignorance is the worst disease that is killing our people, now that your already out of that class try to save your village mates also to get out of it.

He said is angered at countries still fighting with other countries over small issue in this era.

“Why should we still hear bombs bombing a country, killing thousands of people in this era. This is backwards of the highest order. People were created by God who are you killing people of Go?” He asked.

Gloria Tumusiime who represented the Chairperson, board of directors, Tushabomwe David Ndindirize said the journey of Team University started in March 2000 as business school and grew up to this status now where we are awarding 1567 people of degrees, diplomas and among these there are 65 graduands who are going to be awarded Masters’ degree in different disciplines.

Tushabomwe said next year in March they will be celebrating Silver Jubilee and we intend to construct silver jubilee building at our campus.

He praised the parents and guardians for sending their children to Team University that made it what it today.

The chairperson of University council, His eminence, Ronald Lugega urges graduands to yarn for more education saying they have just started the journey of education and sky should be the limit if your to succeed in life.

In his Key note address the representative of Team University Alumini who is also 1st deputy speaker of National legislative council assembly of Juba in South Sudan, Ambrose Lomin Pitia said they are ready to keep the candle of Team University burning since it has made them what they are.

“We formed an association of all Alumini so that we know each other and we make sure our University keep progressing more than we left it,” he said.

He said in southern Sudan study centre, there more than 2000 students now taking different courses at different levels of Team University.
