UPDF soldier and 7 others killed by Kasese floods

NEWS– Business has been Paralyzed in Kasese Municipality following floods that have destroyed infrastructure including roads, schools and Markets in Nyamwamba Division Kasese Municipality.

These waters follow Wednesday heavy rains on Mount Ruwenzori which later poured water into River Nyamwamba in Kasese Municipality that has caused havoc to the community especially the business fraternity.

At Kizungu Market in Nyamwamba Division, Kasese Municipality, all business activities have been paralyzed and most traders have lost their goods to floods.

In Nyamwamba Division some of the most affected schools include Nadiri Preparatory school and Liberty College of Management and journalism, Five Star Nursery and primary school in Mumbuzi cell.

Kizungu Market was also affected and some roads including Mumbuzi, Acholi qauters and Saluti A and B among others.

Mr. Joseph Isingoma the Kasese District Planer who also doubles as the secretary for the District disaster committee, asserts that since the floods started in Kasese, over 4000 people have been displaced.

SP Alfred Bagenda the Kasese Division Police commander confirms that sofa six houses have been destroyed but no death has been reported.
